We rented a beautiful house in the mountains, near WhiteFace and Olipmic Village for the New Year.

December 28th, Day I: arrival

All of us arrived to this beautiful house in the mountain on the 28th. As the house was beautiful and spacious one important thing was missing - Xmas tree. So we went to hardware store and bought saw and xmas tree stand - now imagine the look on the face of a store clerk. Then, brave Romanoff and }|{Eka went right into the woods and, while one was chasing off a bear, the other one got the tree!!! We decorated the house and relaxed after the long drive (4 hours non stop) and hard work :)

December 29th, Day II: skiing

Today we are going to check out the mountain. Nick has decided to try snowboard this time, me and }|{Eka have new gear. I was dying to show off my new blue(!) skiis. Whiteface is huge mountain withlots of trails, but, just as I was worned by people who have been here before, it is quite icey, especially closer to the top. Also, not having much snow contributed as well. I only skii on green trails, but even there I could feel the ice. Not many picture of Nick - after he completed the school, he was mostly on his own so we didn't have many opportunities to take his pics :(

December 30th, Day III: snow!!!

Believe it or not, we don't have any pics of this day for a simple reason: IT WAS SNOWING! We did go skiing, but didn't want the camera to get wet and didn't take it out at all.

December 31th, Day IV: Skiing, Nick's B-day, New Years celebration!

This was the perfect day! Everyone got present one way or the other. Kids received wraped ones, for the rest of us - NY celebration was the best present. Everyone (well, almost everyone - unfortunately Karinka got sick) got to do what they like most: me and Alyona were sining in the woods; }|{eka made a fire outside and used half of the forest near the house to support it; Romanoff went creatiff and made VERY detailed snowwoman :) Happy, fun day for all of us!
