Baden-Baden
Beautiful little town with exclusive atmosphere, which explains huge Russian presence (there's even russian channel on TV and radio). I always wanted to see this town, that some called "the third town in Russian literature, after St .Petersburg and Moscow".
We absolutely loved it! It seems as if the spirit of russian aristocrats is still there...
This is the old bath complex (picture on the right): they offer 4 hours procedure of cold showers, soap/brush massages, hot springs and god knows what else! It requires total separation and, since we can't really enjoy anything without one another we decided to go to a modern bath complex, where we spent 2 hours in the hot springs. There was a huge pool -like bathing area that offers hot salty water from the spring. It feels so great! Also, outside these's a "lazy river" from the same source that actually has a stream "moving" you which creates a very interesting effect.
Berries....
Casino: you need to be dressed up for this one, and, since essentially we didn't want to go we had no dress up clothes. }|{eka had jeans and sneakers on, they offered jacket and tie rental. We were about to walk in, but then the guy at the entrance said that I needed to "check in" my Prada backpack… Big mistake! I told him that it was my handbag, still he insisted., So then I said that I have had enough and we left…. I had a couple of very nasty comments up my pocket (as usual) but }|{eka convinced me not to say anything so we have left quietly (surprise surprise!). Still, it made me quit upset because I wanted to see the place Marlen Dietrich called "the most beautiful casino in the world" where Dostoevsky lost most of his fortune and was inspired to write "The player". I would suggest to visit it. Oh, I almost forgot - the brits football team was stationed there in a private mansion, but everyone knew about it and couple of painters asked me if I was Veronica Beckham .
